I spent years running Mouse Tales Travel, a travel agency I built with my husband Bob. I know what it's like to chase commissions, navigate vendor payments, survive the slow seasons, and try to make sense of your finances at 11pm when you should be sleeping.
In April 2016, I was diagnosed with cancer. I'd just stepped back from being an active agent to take on more of an ownership role — a transition that, in retrospect, felt less like coincidence and more like the universe clearing the decks. Making sure I was exactly where I needed to be when everything changed.
Cancer has a way of reshaping how you think about your work and your time. Even years later — through treatment, through recovery, through whatever the next chapter threw at me — that question kept coming back: what do I actually want to do with what I know?
